intro + journey
In 2020, I was quarantined at my 2 bedroom aparment I shared with a housemate and my boyfriend. I begin writing in a journal again, determined to reflect on the world. I keep the monthly-ish habit up until 2024 when I was introduced to Hobonichi. I bougt one for 2025 and become a full-on-journal-a-day person. It was crazy--I was basically junk journaling and brain dumping everyday and my hobo was chunky! In 2026, I decided to take a step back and move to a weekly layout~

Below are some of my favorites~
Pens

notebooks

history
1995 - Ever since I was a kid, I liked to puruse the aisle of a craft/bargin/art store for stickers. I have very fond memories of SandyLion stickers and a stickerbook my parents bought me. The 90's were the time to be into stickers!

2004 -I loved carrying around a pencil case filled with different pens, pencils, and accessories a 5th grader didn't really need.

2006- It wasn't until I spent my summers on a small island off the coast of Canada that I REALLY got into stationary. There were "loony" stores that had a small section of japanese stationary: pens, pencils, erasers, letter sets, stickers, envelops, notebooks, and more. I would go with my mom and pick out a couple things to write on to send to my friends back home. I had multiple journals, ones to sketch in, ones to write my dreams (literally!), and one main one to write my thoughts. I've lost these to time now, but I've always had some sort of notebook/notepad to write my thougts down.

2016 - Journals evolved into lab notebooks (yes, I was a scientist at one point!!) and I begin to try to structure my work/scool life. I used a "work" planner (it was a teal Leuchtturm) from 2018-2020, tracking tasks, tracking my IEP kids' progress, and writing higligts of the day.

jetpens
Jetpens | My absolute favorite online shop! I find myself going down a rabbit hole everytime I get on their site, they just have SO many guides. My recommendation is to purchase their starter sets (the hobonichi pen set is awesome).

bungu
Bungu | I look forward to their stationary awards every year. Haven't bought from them, but I do trust their reviews/videos.

kinokuniya
Kinokuniya | If you're in LA, you have to visit this japanese bookstore!! They were truly the first place that introduced me to many big stationary brands and I would only buy pens from here for such a long time. As of 2026, they are relocating but they do have pop-ups and an online store.
yoseka
Yoseka | My dream is to visit this store. I follow them on social media and love all their content and events. I just love the vibes, the community, and the love they have for stationary!

pen pals stationary
pen pals | Somewhat local to me (I still have to drive far) and I've only been once, but that visit was amazing. The owner is so sweet and gave me tons of suggestions of new artists/vendors to follow. They have a cool trailer filled with things or you can visit their new store!
